Design Opportunities lie in unsaturated parts of the market. There is potential for designing portable nightlights for all age groups.
Lighting Research
Lux: A light’s intensity in the room Standard lux readings in a home are around 300-500, but in the evening and during the hours before bed, it should be less than 180.
Lumen: Total amount of light output into a room Ideally, a night light should have under 50 lumens.
LED: Light-emitting diode LED lighting products produce light up to 90% more efficiently than incandescent light bulbs and stay cool to the touch.
Sensors: Turning lights on by detecting movement Incorporating sensors can make it more energy-efficient as well as limit disturbances to the sleep cycle.
Wavelength: Lights of different wavelengths are processed as different colors Red and orange lights minimize the disruption to the sleep cycle, warm yellow will provide better illumination.

This form is "too child-like"
The light and handle would not be able to sit on its own while the user was completing other tasks, the gripping area was also awkward and not tall enough to get a good grasp.
When returning the lid to the base, it is hard to find where to place it since the rest of the form is unlit.
